Donna Chin is a member of the bars of New York and New Jersey. Ms. Chin is a graduate of Cornell University, College of Arts & Sciences, as well as New York University School of Law, J.D '83 and LL.M. '11.
Ms. Chin began practice as a criminal defense attorney with The Legal Aid Society, New York County, trying bench and jury trials. She then served as a Deputy Attorney General in New Jersey. Her subsequent private practice focused on civil, complex commercial, and criminal litigation. Ms. Chin's current practice includes appeals, mediations and arbitrations, select criminal litigation, and corporate advice. Ms. Chin also is certified as a FINRA arbitrator, an Attorney for Children in New York, and a New York Art. 81 Guardian, Court Evaluator, and Counsel to Guardian or AIP.
Ms. Chin has lectured extensively on appellate advocacy and legal writing; she has taught as an adjunct, then coadjutant, professor at Seton Hall University School of Law and Rutgers Law School-Newark. She has served as a mock judge at national moot court competitions and has spoken on career panels at New York University School of Law, Rutgers Law School, Seton Hall University, Cornell University and Lucent Technologies. Ms. Chin has taught and graded over 450 law students, and has mentored more through professional association programs.
Ms. Chin has sat on the Boards of Directors for NAPABA, NAPABA Law Foundation, ABA CLEO and APALA/NJ, Inc. She also has sat on the New York State Bar Association LRIS Committee. Ms. Chin's pro bono activities also have included service on New Jersey Supreme Court Committees on Model Civil Jury Charges, Women in the Courts, Fee Arbitration, Chair, Essex County VB, and on New Jersey State's Asian American Commission.
